Descibed as; Portrait of Rebecca Branthwayt (d.1740), neé Newton, seated three-quarter-length, in a white satin dress and blue wrap in a draped interior. Inscribed 'Rebecca Branthwayt/Ob: 1740' (lower left) and inscribed 'Rebecca, wife of Miles Branthwayt/& daughter & co-heiress of/Thomas Newton Esq. of Norwich/ob: Nov. 1740 & buried in the vault/at Hethel (on a canvas fragment attached to the stretcher) 50 x 40 in. (127 x 101.6 cm.).
