Rev. Thomas Roger Duquesne, b.1717 Twickenham
died unmarried 15 September 1793 at Berry's Hall, Nr. Honingham, Norfolk.
Eldest of five children of Gabriel, 3rd Marquis Duquesne and Elizabeth nee
Bradshaigh and great grandson of the French naval hero Admiral Abraham, 1st
Marquis Duquesne (1610 - 1688) and Gabrielle de Bernieres (d. 1697).
Educated at Eton (1729) and Kings College, Cambridge (1738), B.A. 1743, M.A.
1746. Presented to the living of East Tuddenham and Honingham by his
cousin Charles Towshend (1728 - 1810). Lived at Berrys Hall until his
death, He was Chancellor Canon of St. Davids and in 1783 Prebendary of
Ely. He was an acquaintance of the diarist Rev. Thomas
Woodforde, Rector of Weston, Co Norfolk (1740 - !803) who frequently mentioned
Duquesne. The diaries were edited by John Beresford and published between
1924 - 1931.
