Arthur Helsham-Jones: An Overview
I know very little about Arthur Helsham-Jones. In 1888 Arthur's brother Henry took on the name Helsham changing his surname from Jones to Helsham-Jones. However Arthur appears to have been using the name Helsham-Jones as early as 1881. This name is very distinctive and notes pop up from time to time providing information about the Helsham-Jones family. Some of these notes are as follows:
In her diary Elizabeth Jones make a reference to a picture hanging in "Dr Arthur Helsham's" dinning room (1866?). Who was this Dr Arthur Helsham? Was it her son or a distant relative?
In the1881 census Arthur Helsham-Jones was living at Ticton Hall, between Tickton and Hull Bridge, Humberside, with his wife Alice, and three daughters Dorothy, Margaret and Helen. He is recorded as being a Bank Manager and having seven servants living in the house.
